Debate, Shmbate!

Tonight (April 26, 2007) in the great city of Orangeburg, South Carolina e
ight Democratic presidential candidates will gather at South Carolina State University to debate each other. Contrary to various rumors, I will not be attending this debate either in-person, via video conference or via telephone. I will in the great state of New York having my own debate with the American people.

South Carolina is a wonderful state that I have visited on many occasions and look forward to visiting in the future. I will not be at this debate, not just because I was not invited, but because I am not interested in participating in this fabricated, dog and pony sound bite show. My focus is on talking directly to the American people, not hanging out and schmoozing with other candidates.

Here’s what some of these “Presidential Candidates” are saying about the debate:

"I've just got to make sure I don't trip walking on the stage," Delaware Sen. Joe Biden.

"It takes me 60 seconds to clear my throat," Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

America, Gregg Rosenberg does not often trip when he walks and he doesn’t take 60 seconds to clear his throat. I ask you this, what do YOU think people are going to do tonight watch the debate or debate what to watch (“Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” or Survivor: Fiji” or “NBA Playoffs: Detroit at Orlando” or “NHL Playoffs: San Jose at Detroit”)?

For those interested I will be available to debate and discuss any and all issues (Iraq, healthcare, the economy, what television show to watch tonight, etc.) all night long, feel free to contact me at greggforamerica.blogspot.com.

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish a happy 74th birthday day to Carol Burnett. I’d like to express my support to the people of Chernobyl on the 21st anniversary of the world’s worst nuclear power plant accident. Congratulations and happy 42nd independence day to the people of Tanzania. Finally, I would like to extend a special thank you to the federal troops who tracked down John Wilkes Booth on this day 142 years ago.

BREAKING NEWS: Rosenberg Raises $00,000,000.00 in First Quarter

New York -- Bucking political convention, potential Presidential candidate Gregg Rosenberg is refusing to accept any and all campaign contributions. "My opponents can spend their time and energy focusing on money and fundraising; my focus is on the American people and making their lives better," Rosenberg declared at recent town hall meeting in Memphis, Tennessee. “I'm modeling my Presidency after George Washington. He didn't do any fundraising and neither am I."

During the first quarter of 2007 Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama, Mitt Romney, Rudolph Giuliani, John Edwards and John McCain together have raised over $100 million. Asked if thought he was putting himself at a disadvantage, Rosenberg said, "I'm not interested in taking money out of the American’s wallets; this campaign is about helping put money IN American's wallets," Rosenberg said. "Everywhere I go people offer to contribute money to my campaign and I say no thank you, just remember to vote Rosenberg on November 4, 2008."

Rosenberg said he would not accept federal funding and questioned why his opponents who are career politicians failed to fix campaign finance reform. "I refuse to take campaign contributions because my campaign is about giving back to the American people. The last thing we need is more television commercials, more junk mail or more people calling during dinner." Around Rosenberg’s campaign headquarters the only kind of PAC that is discussed is whether Ms. Pacman is a better game then Pacman.

Rosenberg’s grassroots campaign is focused on raising ideas not money. "I'm not interested in raising $300,000,000. I'm interested in meeting 300,000,000 Americans,” Rosenberg said. “This campaign is not powered by dollars; it’s powered by the American people."

For those critics who question Rosenberg’s fiscal policy he remarked, “I love capitalism and am a fan of the free market. That being said, to all the corporate donors, PACs, lobbyists and interest groups, this campaign is not for sale!"
